We believe that if you know what you’re in for, the experience is so much better. And cycling in a new location requires good planning and preparation. It is crucial to know the trails well and vital to know the distances. So here are some general tips we’ve put together for you. You’re welcome of course to call us for more information. We are here for you.

The Israeli desert is not the Sahara. It is a changing desert of rocks and sand, scattered with gravel and small stones, uphills, downhills and some extremely narrow tracks. This makes cycling intense and challenging. We see it as a big advantage.

Some days can get very hot and the nights can be very cold.

The ideal time for riding in the Negev is between winter and spring. The landscapes are crystal clear and the weather is sublime. You might even come across a full water hole and dive in!

If you arrive in winter, you have to be prepared for flash floods. Never go off track after a flood to avoid skidding.

In the summer, it is crucial to know where and when the right time to cycle is. For example, we wouldn’t advise you to begin your bicycle ride at 11am in the middle of the Arava desert in August! There are many trails that are too far away from civilization. You have to be equipped with a map of the area and familiarize yourself with distances between spots in order to plan your trip and avoid over stressing yourself. Get to know the trail marks, what trails are good to ride on and where they take you, if they are too intense or irrelevant.

As in every place in nature, there are animals that you have to get along with. Please don’t interfere with their natural surroundings and habitats.

It is very important to drink frequently! Remember, you are in the desert.

That’s it, in a nutshell.
